It has 4 AA batteries inside. It comes with the batteries.

There is a scanner, but they're much more simple now. You just rub your finger across it. No lasers required

There is a small opening on top of the safe that you swipe your finger over.

The finger print scanner is small and you can barely see it in the pictures unless you zoom in. It is about 1/8" X 1/2" in size. When opening you press the button above the scanner and slide your finger across the scanner and it pops open. It scans just one finger.
I have tried both QAS-450-B model and QAS-1200-B model and they both work very well.

The reader is on the top and is very similar to the small scanner on HP laptops.

Hmmm, I think it would be possible but the door swings down to open which would force you to reach over it from the bed. It's spring loaded so I think it would open ok. If it was upside down I think you'd also be putting your firearm on the plastic cover for the batteries which is inside on the top. A better option would be to place it under the bed and use your thumb to swipe over the reader to operate the safe. The door would drop down and allow easy access to the inside.

I turned my unit upside down and tried the process as if it was mounted as described. It does work. Keep in mind you would have to construct a bracket and allow for availability to use the bio/key entry. This might inhibit your concealment.

quick access it is

I saw an NRA AD trying to sell something very similar for way more money. So, I looked this back up to give as a reference and only saw 2 reviews and one was cruddy saying they couldn't open theirs. We've had ours for over a year and have had zero problems. Haven't even had to change the batteries yet and it's opened daily. I keep the keys in another locked safe, but I've never had to use them. Holds both of our (2) sub-compact CCW pistols (Glock 26 and Taurus PT709) as well as extra magazines in the back. I remember my wife and I programming every one of our fingerprints into it. We've never had to make an adjustments since. I think I'll change the batteries now..

This safe is the perfect size, easily concealed. Your fingerprint opens the safe, no combination to remember! Set-up is quick and easy.

This safe is perfect.

I got this safe for my one gun to be easily accessible by my bed. It fits nicely under the bed and I can open it in 3 seconds from laying down in bed position. The biometric sensor works well, I have read bad reviews on how this fingerprint reader works and I don't understand why. I programed three of my fingers and two of my wife's fingers within minutes and it opens for me every time. The only thing I do not like is the latch is large and if your are not careful you can hit your hand on it when removing the gun. I really like that I do not have to remember a password. It fits my full size Glock and 3 mags very well. The ultimate benefit is that it keeps the gun safe from my children or Grandchildren from getting to it.

Great one gun safe with quick access

Some of the other biometric safes can cost up to $400. This is a great product that opens every time. It's a little tricky to program your fingerprint at first but once you get the hang of it, it works perfectly.

Works great. Easy to program many fingerprints. I keep two pistols in it laying side by side. Only constructive criticism is that it is a bit slow and noisy when opening. Still easier than number entry or key entry.

Purchased this because my granddaughter is getting older and more capable of getting in to things not meant for her. The safe works as advertised. Once I mastered the routine of entering my fingerprints, I entered 4 of mine and one of my wife's. Safe opens quickly when needed and stays closed when its supposed to.

The safe was ordered online and received in a timely manner. The safe works as designed and is large enough for protection, jewelry, money, keys among other items. It is small enough to place in your vehicle as well for safe travels. The finger recognition is great and works fast. I wish I would have ordered the larger unit with the shelf for extra storage.

Secure and Safe

You would do better digging a hole in the yard and putting your important stuff in it. It came with a crack in the cheap plastic top. After 1/2 hour of messing around with it, we could only get one fingerprint to register. And of course, it would only work 1 out of every 3-4 times I tried it. Very loud beeping noice that would alert the dead to you accessing the contents, is not my idea of a "good safe".

Save your money in a hole in your backyard instead

I was super excited to get this safe especially since there have been a string of break-ins in my neighborhood (and we have 5 kids). Unfortunately, we couldn't get the safe open. The instructions said to use the key to open it the first time. We tried and tried but could not get it open. If someone did break in and my firearm was stuck in it.....whelp I might as well just consider myself dead and my kids kidnapped. I do NOT recommend this product. We will be exchanging it today.
